There are two major films released in 2023 titled “The Village,” so I need a little more information to understand which one you’re interested in.

• The Village (Japanese film): This film, also known as “Village,” is a Japanese drama directed by Michihito Fujii and stars Ryûsei Yokohama and Haru Kuroki. The story follows Yu Katayama, a young man trapped in the remote village of Kamonmura due to a past incident. He works at a nearby garbage disposal facility, feeling hopeless and unfulfilled. However, his life changes when his childhood friend Misaki Nakai returns from Tokyo. Their rekindled friendship and the mysterious “Takigi Noh” ceremony held in the village’s mountains lead Yu on a journey of self-discovery and confronting his past.

• The Village (Indian TV series): This Tamil-language horror thriller series, created and directed by Milind Rau, is based on the graphic novel of the same name. The story centers around Dr. Gautham Subramanian, his wife Neha, and their daughter Maya, who get stranded in the deserted village of Kattiyal while traveling from Chennai to Thoothukudi. They soon discover that the village is haunted by bloodthirsty mutants, and Gautham must find a way to save his family and purge the village of this darkness.
